Folks,
You may recall we have a long standing plan to remove the aging wooden fence on the SW corner of the community and replace it with a more natural look that provides both privacy and a physical barrier, and complements / extends the theme established to the south side of the three townhomes (Gene's, Hill's and MarkB's).
The first phase of this plan was kicked off several years ago with the planting of 38 arborvitae on the "inside" of the wooden fence (meaning, on the common area / north & west side of the fenceline). We did this to start the growth of the screen. They have slowly taken root, although they will really flourish once they get light with the removal of the wooden fence.
The second phase of the project is the addition of a 4 foot metal fence (similar to the look we have encircling the retaining area in the NE corner of the property). The fence will serve to prevent foot traffic from entering the community area from the bus stop and SE 26th St sidewalk, in addition to safety - preventing accidents that might happen if people walked off the top of the retaining wall that runs parallel to the firelane.
I have attached the recommended bid for the replacement fence for the SW corner of the community. Brian Toy discussed our need with several vendors; this vendor is the best. Not stated but included in this is the cost of existing fence tear down and removal.
To complete this, we have some additional landscaping recommendations that will complete the SW corner; these are also included in this folder.
This proposal will be presented to the community for approval.
